Chairman Harpal Juneja pays tribute to martyrs on Independence Day
Patiala, 15 August 2026: The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with full enthusiasm, patriotism and devotion at the head office of Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) in Patiala today. On this occasion, the ceremony of hoisting the national flag was performed by PRTC Chairman Advocate Harpal Juneja. After hoisting the national flag, Chairman Advocate Harpal Juneja honored the employees who have contributed to the betterment of the department by performing their duties with honesty, hard work and dedication. He said that the success of any department is possible only with the hard work and dedication of its employees and every employee of PRTC is an important part of the department family.
During his address, the Chairman extended Independence Day greetings to the entire PRTC family and respectfully remembered the great martyrs and freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the country. He said that we have achieved freedom after countless sacrifices and a long struggle, therefore it is the common responsibility of all of us to strengthen the unity, integrity and progress of the country.
Advocate Juneja particularly appreciated the role of PRTC drivers and conductors, saying that they shoulder the important responsibility of transporting thousands of passengers to their destinations every day. Saluting the service of the drivers and conductors, he appealed to them to perform their duties with even more responsibility, restraint and dedication and always behave with humility, respect and cooperation towards the passengers.
He said that PRTC is an important public institution providing reliable and smooth transport service to the common people. Therefore, every employee should not consider his duty as just a job but should perform his duty as a public service responsibility. He said that good treatment of passengers, safe travel and timely bus service are important parts of PRTC’s performance. The Chairman called upon all the officers and employees of PRTC to work with mutual coordination, hard work and team spirit and make their valuable contribution to make PRTC a stronger institution that lives up to the expectations of the people.
Chairman Juneja informed that due to the guidelines and people-oriented thinking of the Honorable Chief Minister Punjab S. Bhagwant Singh Mann and Transport Minister S. Harpal Singh Cheema, 250 buses have been added to the PRTC, while 100 midi buses are being added to the service soon and the process of adding 309 more buses is underway. To increase the income of PRTC, solar system, Verka booth, IOCL’s retail pump and bus stoppages are being built in Patiala with the help of NGOs. Along with this, as per the demand of the people of Patiala, the old bus stand will be renovated and dedicated to the people soon with the latest technology and modern facilities. After this, while sharing the joy of Independence Day, the PRTC family also took a resolution to fulfill its responsibility with full dedication for the unity, integrity and progress of the country.
PRTC Managing Director Mrs. Manisha Rana, IAS, Vice Chairman S. Balwinder Singh Jharwan, Additional Managing Director Mr. Navdeep Kumar, PCS, Executive Engineer S. Jatinderpal Singh Grewal and General Manager (Administration) S. Amanvir Singh Tiwana besides officers and employees of PRTC were present in this event. On this occasion, Chairman Juneja’s father Mr. Bhagwan Das Juneja along with his entire family, Ravinderpal Singh Prince Lamba, Simran Grewal, Rahul Mehta and other dignitaries were also present.
