Patiala News:Special Enforcement Drive Against Buses by Secretary, RTA Patiala; 10 Challans Issued, ₹1.19 Lakh Penalty Imposed
In compliance with the directions issued by the State Transport

Commissioner (STC), Punjab, the Secretary, Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Patiala conducted a special enforcement drive against buses operating in the jurisdiction area to ensure strict compliance with permit conditions and the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and Rules.
During the special drive, 8 stage carriage buses, including 2 AC buses operating on ordinary permits, and 2 tourist buses were checked and challaned for various violations. The AC buses operating under ordinary permits were found to be in violation of the applicable permit conditions and were challaned accordingly. The tourist buses were also challaned for various offences under the applicable provisions.
During the checking, various mandatory documents of the buses and drivers, including permits, Registration Certificates, Fitness Certificates, Driving Licences, insurance documents and other statutory documents, were thoroughly checked. The permit category and actual operation of the buses were also verified.
A total of 10 challans were issued, covering various offences, with a total penalty/compounding amount of ₹1,19,500/-.
The Secretary, RTA Patiala directed the enforcement staff to continue strict and regular checking of buses and to take appropriate action against operators found violating permit conditions or other statutory requirements.
The Transport Department appealed to all bus operators to strictly comply with the conditions of their respective permits, provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and Rules, and prescribed road safety norms. Such special enforcement drives will continue to ensure safe, lawful and disciplined public transport operations in the district.
