A state-level function was organised in Patiala to celebrate the festival of Teej. On the occasion, Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh warmly welcomed Dr. Gurpreet Kaur Mann, wife of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Mann, and Chairperson of the Punjab State Women Commission, Ms. Raj Lali Gill, upon their arrival in Patiala Rural. A large number of women and residents of the area participated in the event, adding to the festive spirit of the Teej celebration.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Gurpreet Kaur Mann said that the festival of Teej brings a message of happiness, togetherness, mutual bonding and love for Punjabi women. She said that Teej is an integral part of Punjabi culture and traditional heritage and plays an important role in connecting the younger generation with its roots. She added that the present government is organising Teej fairs in villages and cities across Punjab to further strengthen and preserve Punjabi traditions and cultural heritage.
She said that the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, has taken significant steps towards fulfilling the promises made to the people. Referring to the Punjab Government’s Chief Minister Health Scheme, Mohalla Clinics and Mawan-Dhian Satkar Scheme, she said these initiatives are receiving an overwhelming response from the people.
Dr. Mann especially thanked Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh and appreciated the arrangements made for the large gathering. She said that ensuring proper arrangements and managing such a huge gathering was commendable. She added that special attention had been paid to the facilities and safety of mothers and daughters attending the event.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Balbir Singh said, “This is the picture of Rangla Punjab under the Mann Government—colours of Punjabi heritage, respect for daughters and sisters, and happiness of the people.” He said that such events are important for preserving Punjab’s rich cultural heritage and connecting the younger generation with its roots.
The traditional colours of Teej, cultural performances and enthusiastic participation of women added to the festive atmosphere. Phulkari shawls, a symbol of Punjabi culture and heritage, were also distributed among the women on the occasion, which generated great enthusiasm among the participants.
Those present on the occasion included Improvement Trust Chairman Mr. Harpal Virk, Mayor Kundan Gogia, Advocate Rahul Saini, Additional Deputy Commissioner Anuprita Jauhal, Jasvir Gandhi, Suresh Rai, Charanjit S.K., Jatinder Kaur S.K., Devinder Kaur, besides a large number of women and residents of the area.
