Patiala News:Voter Registration Camp Held at Govt. Bikram College of Commerce

Under the directions of the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab, Government Bikram College of Commerce, Patiala, organised a Voter Registration Camp as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise under the guidance of Principal Prof. Skinder Kaur Brar. The camp aimed to sensitise and train students about the importance of electoral participation and the process of voter registration. District SVEEP Nodal Officer Dr Swinder Singh Rekhi and Assistant District SVEEP Nodal Officer Mohit Kaushal attended the camp as guests. They interacted with the students and provided detailed guidance regarding voter registration, eligibility requirements and the online procedure for applying for a Voter ID card. Around 350 students were assisted in submitting their applications during the camp. The camp was organised by Dr. Rajni Bala, College SVEEP Nodal Officer along with committee members Asst. Prof. Dilpreet Kaur, Asst. Prof. Samandeep Kaur, Asst. Prof. Suman Bala, Asst. Prof. Nancy Sharma, Asst. Prof. Yadwinder Singh and Dr. Swati Gupta, who coordinated the programme and facilitated interaction between the students and election officials. Addressing the students, Principal Prof. Skinder Kaur Brar emphasised that voting is not only a constitutional right but also an important responsibility of every citizen. She encouraged the students to register themselves as voters and participate actively in the democratic process. Dr. Rekhi urged the students to become responsible and informed voters. He highlighted the importance of electoral awareness among young citizens and encouraged them to spread awareness about voter registration among their peers and family members. Sh. Mohit Kaushal appreciated the initiative and advised students to make use of the facilities provided by the Election Commission for voter registration and correction of voter details. Dr. Rajni Bala conducted the stage proceedings and presented the vote of thanks. The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students and served as a useful platform for creating awareness about voter registration and strengthening democratic participation among the youth. Librarian Smt Sukhbir Kaur, Dr Reetu kapoor and other staff members were also present on this occasion.
