Patiala News:65 kg colored chum chum seized on suspicion basis
Under the supervision of Dr Gurpreet Kaur DHO Patiala, Food Safety Team, FSO Gorav Kumar and Tarun Bansal Conducts Inspection at Lakkad Mandi, Rajpura on 25 August 2026
During the inspection, three food samples were collected for analysis, comprising
Khoya Burfi,
Chamcham and
Rasgulla.
During the inspection, the Chamcham was found to be colored, raising suspicion regarding the use of an unauthorized/nonpermitted coloring matter.
In view of the suspicion, the available stock of 65 kg of Chamcham was seized and kept in the safe custody of the Food Safety Officer (FSO) as per procedure, pending the outcome of laboratory analysis.
Further action will be taken strictly in accordance with the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, Rules and Regulations, based on the laboratory analysis report.
The Food Safety Department reiterated that strict action will be taken against any food business operator found violating food safety standards, particularly in cases involving adulteration or the unauthorized use of colors in food products.
Dr Gurpreet Kaur DHO Patiala also appealed to food business operators to ensure compliance with all applicable food safety requirements and to provide safe and wholesome food to consumers.
