Patiala News:Health Minister leads cleanliness drive in Tripuri on fourth day of ‘Mission Clean Punjab’
Collective efforts needed to restore Patiala’s identity as the ‘City of Gardens’: Health Minister
On the fourth day of the ‘Mission Clean Punjab’ campaign being undertaken by the Punjab Government to make the state clean, beautiful and pollution-free, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh led the cleanliness drive from Patthar Park to Kohli Sweets in Tripuri of Patiala Rural. On this occasion, students of B.N. Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Sirhind Road, also participated enthusiastically.
Dr. Balbir Singh said that ‘Mission Clean Punjab’ is a commendable initiative of the Punjab Government and people’s participation is extremely important for its success. He said that cleanliness should begin from our own homes and thereafter, everyone should contribute towards keeping the surroundings, neighbourhood and city clean.
He said that Patiala was once known as the ‘City of Gardens’ and everyone will have to make joint efforts to restore this identity. He said that a clean environment is directly linked with people’s health and making cleanliness a part of daily life is the need of the hour.
Dr. Balbir Singh said that wherever there is cleanliness, there will be good health, while filth invites diseases. He appealed to the people to lodge complaints with photographs through the ‘M-Sewa’ app whenever they notice garbage, mosquito infestation, sewerage leakage or stagnant water. People who are unable to use the app can send photographs and location through WhatsApp at 8750975975. He said that action would be taken on the complaint within 24 hours.
The Health Minister appealed to the people to refrain from using plastic, saying that single-use plastic is a serious challenge for the environment. He said that to create a clean environment, every citizen should understand their responsibility and dispose of garbage only at designated places.
He said that the participation of every section along with the government is essential to turn ‘Mission Clean Punjab’ into a people’s movement. Appreciating the participation of school students in the campaign, he said that children can play an important role in creating awareness about cleanliness among their families and society.
He appealed to all the people of Punjab, saying that let us all make cleanliness a habit and contribute towards making Punjab clean, beautiful and Rangla Punjab once again.
On this occasion, Municipal Corporation Mayor Kundan Gogia, Additional Commissioner Simarpreet Kaur, Chairman of Punjab Agro Food Grains Corporation Limited Baljinder Dhillon, District Media Secretary Gajjan Singh and officers and employees of other departments were also present.
