In order to register the youth and eligible citizens as voters under Special In-depth Revision-2026, ensure the accuracy of the voter lists and create maximum awareness about the election process, a meeting was held today with the heads of all educational institutions and assembly constituency level SWEEP Nodal Officers under the leadership of SIV Nodal Officers, Shri Savinder Rekhi and Shri Vijay Kumar, Election Tehsildar, Patiala, keeping in view the (SIR) in compliance with the orders of the Honorable Additional District Election Officer-cum-Additional Deputy Commissioner, Patiala.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding running a special campaign to register eligible voters as voters on the basis of eligibility date 01.10.2026. The main objective of this campaign is to encourage eligible students and citizens of 18 years of age or above to register as new voters.
During the meeting, educational institutions were instructed to fill Form-6 of eligible students aged 18 years or above, considering October 1, 2026 as the eligibility date. It was asked to send a weekly consolidated report regarding Form-6 to the office every Monday.
Apart from this, it was asked to activate the activities of Electoral Literacy Club in educational institutions, create social media accounts of (ELC) and share activities related to voter awareness on social media.
Emphasis was also laid on organizing online & offline quizzes, debates, poster making, slogan writing, essay competition and awareness sessions etc. to enhance electoral literacy among students. New eligible voters were encouraged to register as voters and ELC members were encouraged to act as electoral literacy representatives among their peers and community.
A comprehensive awareness campaign will be launched at the district level regarding SIR-2026 through print, electronic and social media. Voter awareness messages have been asked to be broadcast through local FM radio channels, newspapers and news portals.
Along with this, information regarding SIR-2026, voter registration, voter verification and voter services was encouraged to be disseminated to the public by placing banners, hoardings, posters and flex boards at prominent public places.
Voter awareness messages from prominent personalities associated with sports, arts, education and social sectors were recorded and asked to create awareness among the people through official social media platforms.
It was said in the meeting that voter awareness camps should be organized at polling stations and other designated places at all assembly constituencies, door-to-door awareness campaigns should be conducted through BLOs and BLAs and assistance should be provided regarding voter registration, correction, verification and other voter services. Awareness meetings should be organized in villages, wards, resident welfare associations and gram panchayats and voter awareness pamphlets, posters and IEC materials should be distributed and people should also be made aware through the local public announcement system.
Instructions were also given to identify a prominent personality related to sports, art, education and social sector in each assembly constituency and send a proposal for appointing him as the District Sweep Eye Con. This personality should not be directly or indirectly campaigned in favor of or against any political party.
Apart from this, Form No. 7 can be filled by a voter for deduction of vote and Form No. 8 for correction. All these forms can be applied through the concerned BLO or online at http: voters.eci.gov.in/ portal. Booth Level Officers appointed in the eight assembly constituencies of Patiala district will also set up camps at their designated polling stations on Sunday, 06.09.2026.
In this regard, the general public/voters are specially appealed to take advantage of this special campaign launched by the Election Commission of India and to get their names included/deleted from the voter list or to make any kind of correction, they must fill in the relevant form as mentioned above and submit it, so that no eligible person is deprived of casting their vote.
