On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, the Punjab Government has honored teachers who have rendered commendable and dedicated services in the field of education with State Awards. On this occasion, Vijay Kapoor, Principal, P.M. Shri Government Senior Secondary School (Multipurpose), Patiala, who has made significant contributions to the all-round development of students through his long-standing dedication, hard work, leadership and innovative initiatives in the field of education, has been honored with the State Teacher Award-2026. This honor is in recognition of his outstanding work done during nearly three decades of teaching and education management service and his efforts to take the school to new heights.

Principal Vijay Kapoor started his teaching service on 01 March 1996 as a lecturer at Government Senior Secondary School Dostpur (Gurdaspur). During his dedicated service of nearly three decades in the field of education, he has fulfilled his responsibilities as a teacher and principal in various government schools and educational institutions of Punjab.

Now since 21 November 2022, he is serving as Principal at P.M. Shri Government Senior Secondary School Multipurpose, Patiala.

Under the leadership of Principal Madam Vijay Kapoor, in five years, 5 students qualified for NMMS, 1 for NTSE, 27 for Meritorious School, 72 for School of Eminence and 12 for JEE examination.

The school’s unique identity in sports Under the leadership of Vijay Kapoor, the school made sports an important part of student development along with education. According to the data of five years, 424 students participated in state-level games and won 313 state-level medals. Similarly, 99 students participated at the national level and won 17 national medals. Various sports like basketball, football, hockey, cricket, handball, kabaddi, badminton, lawn tennis, boxing, yoga, archery, chess etc. were encouraged in the school.

The total area of playgrounds recorded in the report is 115,944.25 square meters.
