Patiala News:NEWLY JOINED DIG JAILS PATIALA CIRCLE SUBA SINGH RANDHAWA REVIEWS JAIL ADMINISTRATION, SKILL DEVELOPMENT AND WELFARE MEASURES AT CENTRAL JAIL PATIALA
Following the directions of ADGP Jails, Punjab, newly joined DIG, Patiala circle, Suba Singh Randhawa visited Central Jail Patiala and reviewed the functioning of jails under the Patiala Range. On his arrival, the DIG was accorded a Guard of Honour as per protocol.
During the visit, DIG Suba Singh Randhawa chaired a meeting with the Superintendents of all jails under the Patiala circle and held detailed discussions on various aspects of jail administration and functioning. He called upon the jail officers to discharge their responsibilities with dedication and ensure that all possible measures are taken to further strengthen the overall functioning of the jails.
The DIG particularly emphasized the importance of skill development and constructive engagement of inmates, stating that efforts should be made to provide inmates with opportunities for learning useful skills and preparing themselves for a productive life after their release. He also stressed the need to give due attention to the welfare and well-being of jail staff and inmates.
DIG Suba Singh Randhawa directed the officers to maintain a disciplined, secure and positive environment within the jails while ensuring effective implementation of welfare and rehabilitation-oriented initiatives. He also encouraged the officers to identify areas where further improvements could be made in the day-to-day functioning of the jails.
Gurcharan Singh Dhaliwal, Superintendent, Central Jail Patiala, welcomed the DIG and briefed him about the functioning of the jail, inmate population and various activities and welfare initiatives being undertaken for the inmates.
The DIG also interacted with the jail officials and took feedback regarding operational requirements and challenges being faced at the ground level. He assured that all necessary efforts would be made to further strengthen the jail administration and welfare-oriented measures across the Patiala Range.
