Patiala News:World Rabies Day is celebrated on 28 Until September Awareness week will be celebrated

Patiala 23 September ( ) The Health Department, Patiala, is celebrating a week dedicated to Anti- Rabies Day ( Halkaa ) in all the health institutions of the district from today to September 28 .

Giving information about this, Civil Surgeon Patiala Dr. Shelly Jaitley said that the main objective of this awareness week is to make the general public aware about the dangers of a life-threatening disease like rabies and the ways to prevent it . He said that during this week , awareness camps, seminars and direct contact with the people will be held at all government hospitals, CHC and PHC levels in the district.

District Epidemiologist Dr. Divjot Singh said that any animal bite or scratch, especially a dog, cat, monkey etc. should never be ignored as a minor matter . He said that in such a situation, first of all, the wound should be washed thoroughly with clean running water and soap for at least 15 minutes. After this, it is very important to clean it with Dettol or Povidone and go to the nearest government hospital without any delay and get treatment and complete vaccination as per medical advice.

He said that the anti- rabies vaccine is administered free of cost and 24 hours a day in the district hospital, group sub-division hospital, CHC and Aam Aadmi clinic .
