Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh has said that the Bhagwant Mann government has taken the essence of the Ayurveda department, which was neglected by the previous governments, and has taken a step towards its development. Dr. Balbir Singh was addressing a state-level function on the occasion of the 11th National Ayurveda Day celebrated under the theme ‘Ayurveda for a Healthy Future’ at the Government Ayurvedic College, Patiala today.
The Health Minister said that it was a matter of great regret that there was no heir to the Ayurvedic department and for the first time after 1954, the Bhagwant Mann government appointed 23 regular teachers and principal in the Government Ayurvedic College of Patiala, along with the Vice Chancellor and specialist staff of Guru Ravidas Ayurvedic University. He said that apart from this, medicines worth Rs 7.7 crore have been purchased, 7 government Ayurvedic dispensaries have been renovated, another tender of Rs 10 crore has been floated.
Dr. Balbir Singh, while launching the Ayurvedic chatbot, invited Ayurvedic doctors to adopt about 20 villages under the first phase and study the Ayurvedic treatment system and other methods of treatment.
The Health Minister said that due to bad behavior, humans are falling prey to serious diseases, but Ayurveda has the ability to treat serious diseases from the root by using human food as medicine. He said that the Punjab government is committed to promoting our ancient and scientific medical tradition, for which the goal of building Nav Griha Vatika in every village has been set.
On this occasion, Guru Ravidas Ayurvedic University Vice Chancellor Dr. Sanjeev Sood, Registrar Dr. Sanjeev Goyal, Director Ayurveda Dr. Raman Khanna, CM Yogshala Coordinators Amresh Kumar and Kamlesh Mishra, Government Ayurvedic College Principal Dr. Chandra Shekhar Sharma, District Ayurvedic and Unani Officer Dr. Mohan Lal, Controller Examination Dr. Anju Bala, Ayurveda Consultant Dr. Rajiv Mehta and a large number of Ayurvedic medical officers and students were present.
