As Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Jalandhar to address the concluding rally of the BJP’s ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra’, posters carrying questions for the BJP appeared at several locations across the city. The posters, featuring Amit Shah’s photograph, raised questions on drugs, Punjab’s waters and the BJP’s proposed political understanding with the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal). The Tribune also reported the appearance of such hoardings at major intersections in Jalandhar on the day of Shah’s visit.

AAP said the BJP’s campaign against drugs had brought the question of the source and routes of narcotics entering Punjab into sharper focus. One of the posters asks why the BJP is getting drug trafficking from Gujarat into Punjab. AAP said Amit Shah should answer this question instead of limiting the BJP’s campaign to political speeches against drugs in Punjab.

AAP said another poster asks why the BJP wants to give Punjab’s water to Haryana and Rajasthan. The party said the people of Punjab want a clear explanation from the BJP on its position on Punjab’s river waters and the state’s water rights.

AAP said the posters also raise a question about the BJP’s proposed political understanding with the SAD (Badal), asking why the BJP wants to join hands with the Akali Dal (Badal) and bring back the “black farm laws”. AAP said the BJP should clearly explain its position on the farm laws and its reported political understanding with the SAD (Badal).

AAP said these questions were not limited to Jalandhar and had been raised through posters during the BJP’s ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra’. The AAP had publicly said on September 18 that posters were being put up as the BJP’s yatra moved across Punjab, raising questions about drugs allegedly coming into Punjab from Gujarat, Punjab’s waters and a proposed understanding with the SAD (Badal).

AAP said Amit Shah and the BJP could not avoid these questions through political rallies and should instead give clear answers on drugs, Punjab’s waters and their proposed political understanding with the Akali Dal (Badal).
