Patiala News:Patiala to host 81st National Conference on Tuberculosis (TB) and Lung Diseases (NATCON 2026)

Patiala city is all set to host the prestigious 81st National Conference on Tuberculosis (TB) and Lung Diseases (NATCON 2026). The conference to be held at Government Medical College Patiala will be attended by around 500 delegates from across the country, including eminent pulmonologists (lung disease specialists), TB specialists, medical faculty, researchers and post-graduate students.
Dr. Vishal Chopra, Medical Superintendent and Organizing Chairman, Rajindra Hospital, informed that the conference will begin on October 1, 2026 with five ‘pre-conference workshops’ aimed at providing practical training to healthcare professionals, enhancing clinical skills and promoting mutual academic discussions. The main conference will be held from October 2 to 4.
The inaugural ceremony to be held on October 2 will be attended by the Governor of Punjab, Mr. Gulab Chand Kataria and the Health Minister, Dr. Balbir Singh. Their presence will further enhance the significance of this important national academic gathering dedicated to improving tuberculosis care and respiratory health.
He said that the three-day conference will include scientific sessions, expert lectures, research presentations and discussions on new advances in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of tuberculosis and other respiratory diseases. The program will provide a platform to discuss current challenges in tuberculosis prevention, emerging trends in pulmonary medicine, and new innovations in clinical practice and patient care.
As tuberculosis remains a major public health priority in India, this conference will facilitate the exchange of scientific knowledge and experiences among experts and healthcare professionals. It will also strengthen joint efforts for disease prevention, early detection, effective treatment and better patient care.

The organizing committee said that hosting Natcon 2026 in Patiala reflects the city’s contribution to medical education, academic excellence and public health.
