Patiala News:Punjab Language Department announces Best Hindi and Urdu Book Awards for the year 2026,

Awards will be given to 07 best books of various genres during Punjabi Month
Under the Best Book Awards given by the Punjab Government every year to books in Punjabi, Hindi and Urdu through the Language Department, Punjab, the department has announced the Best Hindi and Urdu Book Awards (2026). In this regard, Director, Language Department, Punjab S. Jaswant Singh Zafar said that these awards will be presented at Bhasha Bhawan, Patiala during the state-level closing ceremony of Punjabi Month in November 2026. He said that for these awards, books published during the last year (2025) were sought for the Best Hindi and Urdu Book Awards and these books were evaluated by scholars from different fields and the best books were selected. In this award, a prize money of Rs. 31,000/- along with a citation and a plaque of honor will be presented. It is worth mentioning that these awards will be given to 07 best Hindi and Urdu books related to different genres of Hindi and Urdu languages published in the year 2025.
As per the results announced today, the Sudarshan Galp (Novel/Story) Award for Best Hindi Book Awards will be given to Mr. Suresh Hans’ book “Kasturi Kundal”, Indranath Madan (Criticism/Editing/Knowledge/Research) Award for Dr. Rakesh Prem’s book “Kathashilpi Premchand”, Baba Fateh Singh (Children’s Literature) Award for Dr. Poonam Gupta’s book “Nanhe Kadam Badi Baate”, Mohan Rakesh Award (Single Play/Drama) for Prof. Kashmir Luna’s book “Janak”. The Best Urdu Book Award will be given to Hafiz Mehmood Shirani (Criticism)-2025, Dr. Dr. Salik Jamil Brar’s book ‘Urdu Mein Adab-e Atlaaf Ka Manzar- Pashe Manzar’ will be awarded, Sahir Ludhianvi Poetry Award will be given to Harbhajan Singh Taswar’s book “Man Kistam Man Neestam”, Kanhaiya Lal Award will be given to Nasar (Vartak) Malkit Singh Machhana’s book “Chutkiyaan”.
S. Jaswant Singh Zafar congratulated all the award winners and appealed to continue making similar efforts for the promotion of languages.
