Desh Bhagat University Organised an International Seminar on ’Global Trends in Higher Education’

Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh organised an International Seminar on ’Global Trends in Higher Education’. The event commenced with the lamp lighting ceremony, recitation of DBU anthem and Shabad gayan. Dr. L.S. Bedi, Dean Academic Affairs, DBU, informed that this event provides a platform to GNI officials to speak on global trends in higher education with details of courses, career opportunities and challenges of absorption faced by Indian students in foreign countries.

 

Dr. Zora Singh, Hon’ble Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University, graced the occasion to welcome S. Gian Singh Sandhu, President, Guru Nanak Institute of Global Education, S. Harpreet Singh Dardi, Vice President, GNI, Dr. Harjinder Singh, AI Entrepreneur, GNI advisor, Dr. Kamaljit Kaur Sidhu, GNI Board Member and Director Academics and Research, Ms. Gurjit Kaur, Lawyer-Teacher, GNI board member and director of administration. Col. Pardeep Kumar, Registrar of DBU presented the formal introduction about the DBU.

 

Dr. Zora Singh, Hon’ble Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University shared that a MOU has already been signed between the two organization to work together so as to pursue skill based courses from a recognized Institution to get jobs in foreign countries.

 

Dr. Gian Singh, President, Guru Nanak Institute of Global Education said that the GNI institution is focused on Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s teachings and philosophy – equality, equity, justice, compassion, open dialogue, spiritual, revolution and emancipator teachings. Dr. Singh also stressed that GNI is a nonprofit teaching and research institute established in Canada.

 

S. Harpreet Singh Dardi, said that with this MOU, an Indian student can get an international certificate while doing these courses and this help them in getting jobs in Canada, America, Australia and other countries. S. Dardi also shared that the courses offered by GNI are approved by the Canadian Government.

 

Dr. Kamaljit Kaur Sidhu emphasized on the need to promote Punjabi language and Sikh religion. Ms. Gurjit Kaur shared that the motto and working styles of the University are in accordance with the Canadian requirements and work culture. Dr. Harjinder Singh informed about how artificial intelligence works for the students and makes them learn concepts easily.

 

At the end of the program, Dr. Davinder Singh, Director, Department of Social Science and Languages thanked all the guests and students for being a part of this seminar and hoped that this MOU would be fruitful for faculty as well as students of both the institutions and would pave the way for growth of academia and intercultural research and learning.
