Patiala News:Chairman Mehta Writes to DC for Arrangements for Vaman Dwadashi

-Calls for special attention towards processions, Tippari performances, traffic management, security and temple arrangements

Tejinder Mehta, Chairman of the District Planning Committee, Patiala, has written to the Deputy Commissioner, Patiala, seeking necessary directions to the concerned departments for ensuring smooth and safe arrangements for Vaman Dwadashi, a prominent religious, historical and folk-cultural festival of Patiala. Vaman Dwadashi will be celebrated on September 23 this year.

In his letter, Mehta stated that Vaman Dwadashi is an important festival closely associated with Patiala’s religious and cultural identity. Shri Vaman Avtar Mandir at Sanauri Adda is the main religious centre of the festival, and the long-standing tradition of taking out religious tableaux and processions is also linked to the occasion. He said that Tippari performances are a unique feature of the festival and continue to keep Patiala’s folk traditions alive.

Chairman Mehta urged the administration to issue necessary instructions to the police, Municipal Corporation, fire services, health department, power department and other concerned agencies to ensure proper traffic management, security at crowded places, arrangements along procession routes, fire safety measures, cleanliness, drinking water facilities, power supply, street lighting and medical assistance. He further said that traffic diversion and parking plans should be prepared in advance so that devotees, residents, shopkeepers and passers-by do not face inconvenience.

Mehta further requested that special arrangements be made for the cleanliness, decoration and illumination of Shri Vaman Avtar Mandir, which is managed by the Dharmarth Board. He pointed out that renovation work at the temple is currently underway and that the area housing the idols does not presently have a roof slab. Keeping in view the large number of devotees expected to visit during Vaman Dwadashi, he urged the administration to make suitable temporary roofing arrangements at the site for the convenience of devotees.

Mehta expressed hope that the district administration would ensure all necessary arrangements for the festival and take appropriate steps to facilitate its smooth and successful observance.
