Patiala News:Sports Homeland Punjab 2026: Glorious start of the 8th day of block level games in Block Patran
The Sports Department Patiala organized the 8th day of block level games under the theme of ‘Khedan Watan Punjab 2026’ in a very enthusiastic atmosphere. The games being organized at the Chief Minister Sports Stadium located in village Dedhana of block Patran were formally inaugurated by MLA Kulwant Singh of Shutrana constituency. On this occasion, MLA Kulwant Singh, who entered the field, won the hearts of the players with his volleyball smashes. During the inauguration ceremony, a magnificent scene was created in the field when instead of sitting on the chair as the chief guest, MLA Kulwant Singh himself entered the field. Seeing the enthusiasm of the young players, the MLA rolled up the sleeves of his kurta and tried his hand at the volleyball match with the players. The explosive smashes and services he performed created an echo of applause in the entire stadium.
Moving away from an ordinary MLA, sweating on the field like a player, he showed that he beats with the hearts of the youth of the constituency. This style of his transmitted new enthusiasm and energy among the players. Motivating the players, MLA Kulwant Singh said that sports are not just physical exercise, but the biggest tool to instill discipline and positive thinking in life. Keeping the youth away from the swamp of drugs and diverting them towards the playgrounds is his main goal.
He said that the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Punjab Bhagwant Singh Mann has created such an atmosphere of sports in the state, due to which the golden era of sports has returned to every village. Historic initiatives like ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan’ have given an opportunity to hone the hidden talent at the grassroots level. The basic purpose of the Mann government’s sports policy is to make the players shine at the international level by providing good sports facilities and better cash prize money, due to which the youth of Punjab is now touching new heights in the fields.
Later, District Sports Officer Navjot Singh Dhaliwal informed that today, fierce competitions are being held in different age groups in Athletics, Football, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi National Style, Kabaddi Circle Style, Volleyball Shooting and Volleyball Smashing.
On this occasion, District Sports Officer Patiala Navjot Singh Dhaliwal, Davinder Singh Zonal Incharge Patran Education Department Patiala and Sarpanch of Patran Sandeep were also present. In order to make the arrangements for the games, coaches of the Sports Department Kanwaldeep Singh, Kulwinder Singh, Pardeep Kumar, Gurdev Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Satvir Mandar, Parminder Singh, Dhanwant Singh, Rajbir Singh, Satwinder Singh, Satgur Singh and Shiva played an important role.
