Patiala News:Punjab Sports University, Patiala celebrated its foundation day by planting saplings.

-Vice Chancellor Dr. Pushpinder Singh Gill inaugurated the event by planting a sapling and got 3100 saplings planted.

Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University Patiala celebrated its foundation day with enthusiasm. On this special occasion, Vice Chancellor Dr. Pushpinder Singh Gill inaugurated the event by planting a sapling and got 3100 saplings planted. Vice Chancellor Dr. Gill shared his happiness on the occasion of the foundation day of the sports university and said that our university is a vast campus spread over 100 acres. Its lush green and healthy environment will carry a good message for the society. He said that we have planted 44 different types of saplings which are traditional saplings of Punjab and there is no mutated sapling among them.

He said that the Punjab government has included plants keeping in mind the concept of Guru Nanak Garden. A track is being built in it which will be useful for students for daily walks. This will help in maintaining a healthy lifestyle and preserving the environment. He also said that we are establishing this park in the university in the memory of the late S. Baghel Singh Khaira, who was a great personality who dreamed of serving humanity, taking sports forward and was a great social worker, so that we can spread the message of service among the people by making them aware of such personalities in the society.

On this occasion, 3100 saplings of 44 varieties including Amaltas, Arjun, Aula, Barhal, Bahera, Chukrasia, Bohar, Jackfruit, Jamun, Karonda, Kusam, Desi Mango, Pilakhan, Suhanjana, Samblu and others were provided to the university by the Guru Nanak Holy Forest. On this occasion, the students of the university, understanding their duty, took full responsibility for the maintenance of the saplings. It is also worth mentioning here that 6000 saplings have already been planted before this.
