Patiala News:Training of first batch of field trainers for second phase of Census-2027 successfully completed in Patiala

The 3-day training workshop of the first batch of field trainers for the smooth conduct of the second phase (population census) of Census-2027 in district Patiala has been successfully completed today. This training was conducted at the Municipal Corporation office under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner-cum-Principal Sessions Officer, Patiala Dr. Himanshu Agarwal and Commissioner Municipal Corporation, Pooja Sial Grewal.
District Patiala Sensing Nodal Officer Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development)-cum-District Sensing Officer Damanjit Singh Mann said that as per the guidelines of the Sensing Department, a total of 72 field trainers have been appointed in Patiala district, out of which 58 field trainers have been posted by the Deputy Commissioner and 14 field trainers have been posted by the Commissioner Municipal Corporation. To conduct the training smoothly, the field trainers have been divided into two batches of 36 each, out of which the 3-day training of the first batch has been successfully completed today (September 22 to September 24), while the training of the second batch will be given from September 28 to September 30, 2026.
During this workshop, the master trainers of the Census Department, Nishu Sharma (Senior System Analyst, Punjabi University), Dolat Ram (Lecturer, P.M. Shri Government Senior Sec. School, Ghanaur) and Aman Kumar (District Coordinator, Census Operation Department Punjab, Chandigarh) provided detailed training to the field trainers on important topics related to population census, practical demos and field exercises by forming teams. These field trainers will now further train the supervisors and enumerators at the tehsil and charge levels.

Important initiative of ‘Self Enumeration’:

The master trainers said that this time a new initiative of ‘Self Enumeration’ has been taken in the census. Under this, any citizen can enumerate his/her family himself/herself through online medium from 16th November 2026 to 30th November 2026.
After this, the second main phase of the census will run from December 1, 2026 to January 4, 2027, in which government enumerators will complete the population count by going door-to-door.
The district administration has appealed to all citizens to extend their full cooperation in this national work. Deputy Economic and Statistical Advisor Jaswinder Kaur, Superintendent Vishal Sial, Census Cell Team Clerk (Accounts) Narinder Kumar, Investigators Bikramjit Singh, Kulinderjit Singh and Hemant Kumar along with all the field trainers participated in this workshop.
