Patiala News:Food Safety Team Collects 15 Surveillance Samples of Spices, Seizes 21 Types of Products

– No compromise on the health and safety of consumers will be tolerated: Dr. Gurpreet Singh

District Food Safety Officer, Patiala, Dr. Gurpreet Singh, said that the Food Safety Team, Patiala, conducted inspections at various locations on September 29, 2026, to check different food items. During the inspections, 15 surveillance samples of spices were collected and sent for testing.

He said that, in addition, an online inspection of another business premises was conducted, following which an improvement notice was issued.

Dr. Gurpreet Singh further said that thereafter, the team inspected a business premises where certain products were found carrying information stating that they had been manufactured, packed and marketed by M/s Vaid Vidya Sagar Ayurveda Pvt. Ltd., Patiala. Some of these products were labelled as ‘dietary supplements’ and also carried a Food Safety licence number.

He said that during scrutiny of the relevant records, it was found that the licence number mentioned on the products had not been issued for the manufacturing and packaging of these products. In this regard, the team seized 21 different types of products in varying quantities, which were labelled as manufactured, packed and marketed by the said firm.

The District Food Safety Officer made it clear that no compromise on the health and safety of consumers will be tolerated. After examination of all records and facts related to the seized products, strict legal action will be initiated in accordance with the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and the rules and regulations framed thereunder. In case of any violation of the prescribed provisions, appropriate action will be taken against the responsible party as per law.
