Patiala News:Under Mission ‘Clean and Green Patiala’, Health Minister creates awareness among people by cleaning himself
Appeal to city residents to maintain cleanliness and come forward to protect the environment – Dr. Balbir Singh
Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh today launched ‘Mission Clean and Green Patiala’ under the banner of ‘Clean and Green Patiala’ with the aim of making Patiala city clean, green and environmentally friendly. The campaign was launched at Bishan Nagar, where Dr. Balbir Singh himself participated in the cleanliness drive and gave the message of cleanliness and environmental conservation to the people.
Dr. Balbir Singh, by cleaning himself during the cleanliness drive, gave the message to the people that cleanliness is not only the responsibility of government departments or sanitation workers, but every citizen should contribute to it. He said that when people consider cleanliness of their homes as well as streets, roads, public places and surroundings as their responsibility, only then the city can be made clean in real sense.
Dr. Balbir Singh also distributed cloth bags to the school children who attended the campaign. During this, a message was given to reduce the use of plastic bags and encourage the use of environment-friendly cloth bags. While interacting with the school children, he motivated them to keep their homes, schools and surroundings clean. He said that children can play an important role in conveying the message of cleanliness and environmental conservation to their families and society. He appealed to the children not to throw garbage here and there and also make their peers aware of cleanliness. He said that today’s children are the builders of tomorrow’s Punjab and instilling a sense of responsibility towards the environment in them is the main need of the hour.
He appealed to the people not to throw garbage on the roads or public places and to inculcate the habit of keeping wet and dry garbage separately. He said that cleanliness starts from our own home and surroundings and even a small contribution from each individual can bring a big change in the cleanliness of the city.
The Health Minister said that the government, municipal corporation, social organizations, schools, students and city residents will have to work together to make Patiala clean and green. He said that the city cannot remain clean with just a one-day cleanliness drive, but it needs to be made a continuous mass movement.
Mayor Kundan Gogia, Deputy Mayor Harinder Kohli, Municipal Commissioner Pooja Sial, Additional Commissioner Simarpreet Kaur, MC Mohit Sharma, besides other MCs, school students and other colleagues were present in this cleanliness drive.
