Assistant Registrar Cooperative Societies, Patiala Amandeep Sharma appealed to farmers to manage crop residues properly and refrain from burning stubble, saying that stubble can be managed in an environment-friendly manner by making maximum use of modern agricultural machinery available in cooperative societies.
Amandeep Sharma today visited Kalyan Agricultural Cooperative Society and inspected the tractor and mulcher purchased by the society. On this occasion, he said that the main objective of providing modern agricultural machinery to farmers through cooperative societies is to ensure proper management of crop residues and encourage farmers to stop the practice of stubble burning.
He said that various cooperative societies under the Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Patiala have purchased tractors, mulchers, super seeder and other modern agricultural implements. With the use of these implements, farmers can manage stubble properly in the fields and avoid the need to set it on fire.
He said that burning of stubble increases air pollution, affects soil fertility and harms human health as well as the environment. Therefore, farmers should use the modern agricultural machinery available for stubble disposal and contribute to environmental conservation.
Amandeep Sharma said that ensuring a clean environment is the shared responsibility of everyone. He appealed to the farmers to play an active role in the efforts to reduce pollution by not burning stubble and by properly managing crop residues, keeping in mind the healthy future of the coming generations.
He said that modern agricultural machinery purchased by cooperative societies is provided to farmers on rent, while small and marginal farmers are given the facility to use this machinery free of cost. He appealed to the farmers to make maximum use of this facility and instead of burning stubble, manage it properly with the help of modern agricultural tools.
