PADMA SHRI AWARD FOR S. JAGJIT SINGH DARDI

It’s matter of great pride and honour for all Punjabis to know that renowned veteran-journalist, educationist S.Jagjit Singh Dardi ( Editor-in-Chief Daily Chardikala, Chairman-Sri Guru Harkrishan Public Schools & Chardilkla Time T.V.) has been selected by Govt. of India for one of the Highest Civilian Award i.e. ‘Padma Shri Award’ for his dedicated services in National Integration, communal harmony, exemplary contribution in the field of Media, Education and promotion of Punjabi Language, Culture & Heritage.

He has begun his career in his teens for the creation of Punjabi speaking state with struggles and sacrifices and has been court arrested in June 22, 1960 for his participation in Punjabi Suba Movement from Dukhniwran Sahib at the young age of twelve years.

He has to his credit 62 years of long experience and has done remarkable services in the field of media and became the Member of Press/ Media Advisory Committees of Lok Sabha in 1997-98 and Rajya Sabha in 2014. He is member of the Executive committee of the world’s largest body of Print Media “THE INDIAN NEWSPAPER SOCIETY” (INS) since 1988. He became the member of Press Council of India in 2001 and continued his services for 3 terms. He remained member of all Prime ministers media delegation since 1993.

Under his dynamic guidance, Chardikala Newspaper is being published daily since 1970. He has achieved the heights of excellence not only in the field of print media but also in the field of electronic media. He started Chardikla Time T.V. channel in the year 2007. Chardikla Time T.V channel has become one of the most favourite Punjabi satellite channel to direct Live Telecast daily from of the holiest shrines i.e. Gurudwara Shri Bangla Sahib, New Delhi, from Hemkunt Sahib, situated at the height of 15000 ft. in the Himalayas and from Takhat Sri Harimandirji Patna Sahib, Bihar for the welfare of humanity and for spreading the message of Gurbani to crores of viewers all over the world and continues to telecast till date.

Due to the glorious history of more than 50 years for serving the cause of patriotism, language, culture, moral values and Indian heritage amongst its readers and viewers across the world, Chardikla Time TV has gained its credibility and global presence on all available DTH, Cable, OTT and Social media platforms and has emerged as one of the best & top ranking Punjabi channels of India acquiring immense popularity around the globe.

Acknowledging the selfless services of S. Jagjit Singh Dardi, he has been honored by all the highest temporal seats of the Khalsa Panth, Sri Akal Takhat Sahib, Takhat Sri Keshgarh Sahib, Sachkhand Sri Hazoor Sahib and Shri Damdama sahib, Takhat Sri Harimandir ji Patna Sahib has bestowed upon him the title of “BHAI SAHIB”.

Besides being a renowned journalist, he is also the Chairman of the chain of educational institutions in Patiala with the aim to spread the quality and affordable education for the masses and to inculcate the sense of moral values amongst the new generation.

Due to his exceptional services, he has also been bestowed with Shiromani Patarkar Award by President of India Shri K.R. Narayan ji in 1998, Shiromani Sahitkar Award by Govt. of Punjab in 1992. He has been honoured by World Punjabi Conferences in 1997 by U.S.A and in Canada in 1989.

Due to his exceptional services, he is going to be bestowed with the prestigious PADMA SHRI AWARD by President of India’ Shri Ram Nath Kovind ji’ on the occasion of Republic Day of India.
