Every citizen should do his duty by voting fairly: Dr. Zora Singh

Desh Bhagat University’s Department of Education celebrated the 14th National Voters Day, inspiring all new voters to exercise their civic duty. A program was organized on the occasion of Voter’s Day to commemorate the objectives of the day, where the Chancellor of the University, Dr. Zora Singh, administered the oath to officials, staff, and students. He emphasized that we will maintain the dignity of our democratic traditions, ensuring free, impartial, and peaceful elections. Fearless and unbiased, we will exercise our voting rights without being influenced by religion, caste, community, language, or any other temptation.

The university’s nodal officer, Satish Kumar, and guest Rajesh Kumar from Narayangarh Government School stated that voting is a fundamental process that shapes a country’s governance system. It gives individuals the opportunity to choose their representatives in the government. They emphasized that we should vote impartially for the country and also advise others to vote. They stated that in any democratic country like India, the voting process is a way for the common citizen to express their opinion. They mentioned that the most significant role in forming a government in any democratic country is played by the voters. To raise awareness about the importance of voting, National Voters Day is celebrated every year. This year, the 14th National Voters Day is being celebrated in the country. Under this, young people over the age of 18 in the country are identified on National Voters Day by the Election Commission, who have come of age and are encouraged to vote for the first time. On this day, the Election Commission identifies such youth by distributing identity cards and encouraging them to vote.

During this, a street play and cultural program were organized to raise awareness among voters. Dr. Arshdeep Singh expressed his gratitude.
