Desh Bhagat University Organizes World Cancer Day Awareness Program

Mandi Gobindgarh, February 5: The Placebo Club, Faculty of Pharmacy, Desh Bhagat University, in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organized a World Cancer Day Awareness Program to commemorate World Cancer Day.
The initiative aimed to educate students and the community about cancer awareness, prevention strategies and the importance of early diagnosis and timely treatment.
The program began with an E-Poster Presentation at the APJ Seminar Hall, where students of Pharm. D and D. Pharmacy showcased informative posters covering cancer causes, symptoms, prevention, diagnosis, and recent advances in cancer management. The presentations were evaluated on scientific content, clarity and alignment with the theme “United by Unique.”
A Community Interaction and Health Education Program was subsequently held at Chahal Village, Fatehgarh Sahib, where faculty members and students raised awareness about common cancers, lifestyle-related risk factors and simple preventive measures, emphasizing regular health check-ups and early medical consultation.
DBU Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur lauded the initiative of the Faculty of Pharmacy for organizing the World Cancer Day Awareness Program, appreciating the department’s commitment to social responsibility and community health.
The program reinforced the theme “United by Unique”, highlighting the collective responsibility to promote cancer awareness, prevention, and early detection while strengthening community health education at the grassroots level.
