National Mathematics Day Celebrated In Desh Bhagat University
Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences of Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh celebrated National Mathematics Day to honour the Birth Anniversary of the legendary Indian Mathematician, Srinivasa Ramanujan. Dr. Kailash C Lachhwani, (Applied Mathematics), NITTTR Chandigarh was the Chief Guest of the event. Students from different departments of the University were attended the event.
The event was organized by Science Club of Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences under the supervision of Dr. Savneet Kaur, HOD Applied Sciences. Event was inaugurated in the morning at 11:00 am in APJ Abdul Kalam Seminar Hall, Engineering by hands of Hon’ble Vice-President, Assistant Director Engineering and Chief Guest (Dr. Kailash C Lachhwani) and all Department HOD’S were invited to light the lamp.
Dr. Harsh Sadawarti, Vice President, reflected upon magical features of Dr Ramanujan’s mathematical concepts and explained various real life applications of mathematics in engineering and Technology. He conveyed best wishes to all participants and given the presidential address.
In the first, a Short movie show on the biography of the great mathematician “Srinivasa Ramanujan” was played in the seminar hall. Power Point Presentation Competition was held on the topic of “Applications of Mathematics in Emerging Areas of Engineering & Technology”. Students of Applied Sciences department were participated in the event. Students shared their valuable knowledge on the topic of applications of mathematics with the students through their power point presentations.
After that, Expert talk was delivered by Dr. Kailash C. Lachhwani, of Applied Mathematics, NITTTR Chandigarh on the topic “Teaching of Mathematics in context of NEP 2020”. It was a highly interactive and enlightening session as all the participants were quite enthusiastic to know about the topic and its relevance.
The motive of the competition was to acquaint young artists and creative writers with the outstanding contributions of Srinivas Ramanujan in the field of mathematics. The participants were given appreciation-certificates while the winners received position & certificates.
Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Khushboo Bansal, Assistant Director Engineering. She extended an immense gratitude to the management, chief guest and organizing team for their continuous support to conduct this program.
