Unveiling Global Style: Desh Bhagat University Hosts International Students’ Fashion Festival

Desh Bhagat University, a center of cultural diversity and academic excellence, recently transformed its campus into a divine spectacle of the International Students’ Fashion Show. Held on the captivating lawns of the Dental Hospital, this event brought together students from different corners of the world, showcasing a rich blend of styles, traditions, and creative expressions.

The event featured interviews with students from various African countries, each presenting their unique interpretations of fashion. The International Students’ Fashion Show enlightened the cultural richness and diversity of the global student community at Desh Bhagat University, where traditional elements seamlessly merged with contemporary trends in a mesmerizing display of creativity.

 

The event began with the arrival of distinguished dignitaries, including Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh, Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur, and other esteemed members of the DBU administration.

 

As the sun set, the atmosphere came alive with the glow of sky lanterns, creating a vibrant ambiance for an evening of glamour and cultural exchange. Dr. Harsh Sadawarti, Vice President of DBU, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the university’s commitment to embracing and celebrating cultural diversity.

The evening unfolded with captivating performances, including a soulful rendition by Ronald, energetic Bhangra, and three emotional rounds of the International Fashion Show. Each round showcased the participants’ creativity and unique styles, reflecting the rich cultural tapestry they bring to the university.

 

An enchanting cultural performance added an extra layer of vibrancy to the evening, leading to the eagerly awaited announcement of results and the crowning ceremony. Mr. DBU International Melchizedek Ikese and Miss DBU International Moipone Lekaka were crowned as the winners. Additionally, Mr. 2nd Runner Up Cishak Retji, Miss 2nd Runner Up Bokang Mapena, Mr. Handsome Jackson Francis, Miss Gorgeous Ramatu A. Conteh, Mr. Charming Smile Kim Paul Gyang, and Miss Charming Smile Josephine Gyang were also honored.

Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh expressed pride in the cultural diversity represented by the international student community, commending the participants for their outstanding contributions to the university’s vibrant multicultural environment.

Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur emphasized the significance of cultural exchange through fashion, noting that the International Students’ Fashion Show serves as a testament to the university’s commitment to fostering a global perspective among its student body.

 

The event concluded with an awards ceremony, where participants were recognized for their exceptional contributions. Arun Malik, Director of International Students, expressed gratitude to all attendees, participants, and the organizing team, highlighting how the International Fashion Show not only celebrated fashion but also strengthened the bonds of cultural unity and diversity among the global student community.
