Patiala News:Awareness campaign continues in schools under ‘War on Drugs’ campaign

*Students are being made aware of the ill effects of drugs through the curriculum*

Under the able leadership of Patiala Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Agarwal and the supervision of DEO (Secondary) Shalu Mehra, Deputy DEO Ravinderpal Sharma and District Nodal Officer Neeru Bala, the process of making students aware of staying away from drug use is continuously ongoing in all high and senior secondary schools of Patiala district.

Under this, the ‘War on Drugs’ awareness program has been implemented in schools since August 3.

To make the program successful, the state government has prepared a special curriculum through a team of experts and provided it to the schools. This curriculum includes 9 documentary films, worksheets, interactive activities and an activity to take a pledge to stay away from drugs. Teachers are given about a week to conduct each activity in the schools in a proper manner.

Nodal officers have also been deployed at the school level to monitor this entire work. District Nodal Officer Neeru Bala said that according to the information received from the schools, the ‘War Against Drugs’ awareness program is showing positive results.

He said that the documentary films being shown under the curriculum depict the stories of real people who were trapped in the mire of drugs during their lives and managed to come out of it. Through these real stories, students are being sensitized to the ill effects of drugs, which are having a deep impact on their minds. After completing each activity in schools, its record is maintained systematically and uploaded on the session tracker form. For the success of the program and continuous monitoring of the activities, visits to the schools are also being made by higher officials from time to time.
