Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib organized a special function dedicated to the martyrdom of Sahibzadas Baba Zorawar Singh, Baba Fateh Singh and Mata Gujri Ji. A musical film based on the book ‘Shahidani-Wafa’ by Allah Yar Khan Jogi, sung by Dr. Gurnam Singh was screened. Presiding over the function, Vice Chancellor of the Univeristy Dr. Prit Pal Singh Ji said that the martyrdom of the Sahibzadas has been composed by Allah Yar Khan Jogi Ji in very emotional words and in the same essence of gratitude, Dr. Gurnam Singh Ji has sung it. He said that performances of such musical-films would help in inculcating the martyrdom of Sahibzada and Mata Gujri, as a permanent part of the consciousness of the people. He said that the primary duty of the University is to impart academic education to the students on the one hand, and on the other hand is to impart religious education and historical knowledge.

In the function, Dr. Gurnam Singh discussed his project and said that at present, by introducing Panth approved texts through technical means, we can connect the young generation all over the world with Gursikhi. The aim of his musical film ‘Shahidani Wafa’ is to take the martyrdom of the young princes to the corners of the world.

The function was inaugurated by welcoming remarks of Dr. Sukhwinder Singh Billing, Dean Academic Affairs. He said that every year the University organizes a function dedicated to the martyrdom of Sahibzada. This time the presentation of the musical film ‘Shahidani Wafa’ produced by  Dr. Gurnam Singh ji is highly commendable. The musical film was highly appreciated by the audience. The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Dr. Prit Pal Singh felicitated Dr. Gurnam Singh and his wife Dr. Amritpal Kaur. On this occasion, Dr. Harpreet Singh, In charge of music department thanked the dignitaries, scholars and the audience.

It is worth mentioning here that various functions are being organized by Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University Fatehgarh Sahib during Shaheedi Sabha. These events include physiotherapy and homeopathy service camps, gurmat book exhibitions, turban training service camps and documentary shows related to Sikhism by the University.
