Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib organised a Two Day 2nd National Research Scholars Meet in association with the Patiala Chapter of the Indian Science Congress Association. The theme of the Meeting was “Advances in Interdisciplinary Research for a Sustainable Future”. The eminent economist Prof. Gurmel Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the Akal University, Talwandi Saboo inaugurated the Meet. In the keynote address, Prof. Gurmel Singh highlights the importance of Interdisciplinary Research.
In his presidential address, Vice-Chancellor of the University, Dr. Prit Pal Singh emphasised that the greatest need of the hour is a sustainable future. Prof. S.S. Billing, Convener of the Research Scholars’ Meet and Dean Academic Affairs of the University welcomed the guests and the scholars.
The sessions were organized under the able convenership of Dr. Yadwinder Singh, In-charge, Department of Botany and Environmental Science . The Meet was divided into four technical sessions. Dr. Sikander Singh, In-charge, Department of Punjabi, Dr. Sumit Kumar, In-charge, Department of Economics, Dr. Rahul Badru, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry and Dr. Pankajpreet Singh, In-charge of the Department of Physiotherapy were the organising secretaries.
More than 255 Researcher Scholars from twenty seven institutes and seven states presented their papers. The top three researchers from each session were awarded with prize money.
In the Valedictory session, Prof. S.S. Marwaha, Chairman Punjab Pollution Control Board was the Chief Guest and Prof. Paramvir Singh, convener of Patiala Chapter; Indian Science Congress Association was the special guest of honour. Prof. Harpal Singh Pannu, Punjab Central University, Bathinda, Prof. Gurmeet Singh, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Prof. JIS Khattar, Punjabi University, Patiala, Prof. Kulwinder Singh, Prof. Rajinder Kaur and Prof. Manjit Singh, from Thapar University, Patiala, Prof. Sushil Mittal and Prof. Vijay Nagpal, Panjab University, Chandigarh, Dr. Gurjinder Singh, Dean Students’ Welfare of the University, Head of the University Departments and Faculty members also joined the meet.
