DBU Nursing Students Visited Verka Milk Plant, Patiala

Students of B.Sc Nursing and GNM, Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh visited Verka Milk Plant, Patiala to learn about milk hygiene. Ms. Sunaina Sharma, Associate Professor, Faculty of Nursing, Ms Gurwinder, Ms Dilpreet Sohi, Ms Honey Hasteer and Ms Meenu, the Nursing Tutors gave the orientation of the Verka milk plant to the Nursing students. The students visited each section of the plant. They saw the procedure of pasteurization, ghee making, curd making and packing including lassi packing, cheese making etc.

After that there was a special demonstration by the students to the verka employees about hand hygiene and personal hygiene. Health awareness regarding prevention of occupational hazards was also given to the employees. At the end, the students were served flavored verka milk. Dr Zora Singh Hon’able Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh encouraged the students to keep exploring such firsthand knowledge of workplaces and industry. Dr. Sandeep Singh, President, Desh Bhagat University also expressed his good wishes to the faculty members for organising the fruitful and productive visit.
