SAYS NO STONE TO BE LEFT UNTURNED FOR GIVING FILLIP TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE CITY

Chandigarh, December 26-

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Monday said that the state government will give much needed fillip to the overall development of Patiala by pumping in crores of rupees in the coming days thereby giving a major facelift to the royal city.

Chairing a meeting with the MLAs and officers here at his office, the Chief Minister said that the move is aimed at providing basic civic amenities to the people on one hand and giving impetus to the development of the city on the other. He bemoaned that despite being a major city of the state, Patiala has hitherto lagged behind in the pace of development due to the blatant neglect of the successive rulers. However, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that now the state government will leave no stone unturned to ensure that the development of the district is given a major push.

Dwelling on the agenda, the Chief Minister said that the state government is taking a giant leap forward in solving the problem of stray cattle in the city. He further said 77 development projects worth Rs 57 crore are already going on in the city. Likewise, Bhagwant Singh Mann also said that the work to provide 24X7 canal water supply to Patiala residents is also going on in full swing adding that it will be instrumental in providing regular and potable water supply to people.

The Chief Minister also asked the officers to expedite the process of shifting dairies in the Ablowal Dairy project where the plots have already been allotted. He said that the phase I of construction of Model Town drain has already been accomplished adding that phase II covering 6 kilometres will be completed at a cost of Rs 65 crore. Bhagwant Singh Mann also reviewed the functioning of Sewage Treatment Plants and ensuring sanitation facilities to the people in the city.

The Chief Minister also took stock of the street light, upkeep of parks, heritage street project, chotti badi nadi project and others to facilitate the people. He asked the officers to ensure that the ongoing works are completed within their stipulated time period. Likewise, Bhagwant Singh Mann directed the officers to ensure that the new projects are conceived, planned and executed in a highly professional and transparent manner.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also asked the officers to explore the feasibility of using the existing bus stand will be used as a city bus stand. He said that this can be instrumental in facilitating the people to provide excellent means of public transport to them. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government is fully committed for ensuring comprehensive development of the city and prosperity of its people.

ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਅੱਜ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸੂਬਾ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਰ ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਰੁਪਏ ਖਰਚ ਕੇ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਸਰਬਪੱਖੀ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੁਲਾਰਾ ਦੇਵੇਗੀ ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦਾ ਮੁਹਾਂਦਰਾ ਬਦਲਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।

ਇੱਥੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਫ਼ਤਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਵਿਧਾਇਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨਗੀ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਕਦਮ ਦਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਨਿਆਦੀ ਸਹੂਲਤਾਂ ਮੁਹੱਈਆ ਕਰਵਾਉਣਾ ਹੈ, ਉਥੇ ਹੀ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਲਾਰਾ ਦੇਣਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਨਾਲ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸੂਬੇ ਦਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਦੀ ਰਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੁਣ ਤੱਕ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਰਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਣਦੇਖੀ ਕਾਰਨ ਪਛੜ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਭਗਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਹੁਣ ਸੂਬਾ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੁਲਾਰਾ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ ਕੋਈ ਕਸਰ ਬਾਕੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੱਡੇਗੀ।

ਏਜੰਡੇ ‘ਤੇ ਚਰਚਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸੂਬਾ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਵਾਰਾ ਪਸ਼ੂਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਮੱਸਿਆ ਦੇ ਹੱਲ ਲਈ ਵੱਡੇ ਕਦਮ ਚੁੱਕ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ 57 ਕਰੋੜ ਰੁਪਏ ਦੀ ਲਾਗਤ ਨਾਲ 77 ਵਿਕਾਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਜੈਕਟ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਭਗਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ 24X7 ਨਹਿਰੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਸਪਲਾਈ ਦੇਣ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਵੀ ਜ਼ੋਰਾਂ-ਸ਼ੋਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਚੱਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਰੰਤਰ ਅਤੇ ਪੀਣ ਯੋਗ ਪਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਸਪਲਾਈ ਮੁਹੱਈਆ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਹਾਈ ਸਿੱਧ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।

ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਬਲੋਵਾਲ ਡੇਅਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਜੈਕਟ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਪਲਾਟ ਅਲਾਟ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਨ, ਵਿੱਚ ਡੇਅਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਦੀਲ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਿਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੇਜ਼ੀ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਲਈ ਵੀ ਆਖਿਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮਾਡਲ ਟਾਊਨ ਡਰੇਨ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਦਾ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਪੜਾਅ ਪੂਰਾ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਛੇ ਕਿਲੋਮੀਟਰ ਦੇ ਫੇਜ਼-2 ਨੂੰ 65 ਕਰੋੜ ਰੁਪਏ ਦੀ ਲਾਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਪੂਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਭਗਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਸੀਵਰੇਜ ਟਰੀਟਮੈਂਟ ਪਲਾਂਟਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੰਮਕਾਜ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਲਈ ਸਾਫ਼-ਸਫ਼ਾਈ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਹੂਲਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਵੀ ਜਾਇਜ਼ਾ ਲਿਆ।

ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਹੂਲਤ ਲਈ ਸਟਰੀਟ ਲਾਈਟ, ਪਾਰਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਾਂਭ-ਸੰਭਾਲ, ਵਿਰਾਸਤੀ ਸਟਰੀਟ ਪ੍ਰੋਜੈਕਟ, ਛੋਟੀ ਬੜੀ ਨਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੋਜੈਕਟ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਵੀ ਜਾਇਜ਼ਾ ਲਿਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਰਧਾਰਿਤ ਸਮੇਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਕਰਨਾ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਜਾਵੇ। ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਦਾਇਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਨਵੇਂ ਪ੍ਰੋਜੈਕਟਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੂਪ-ਰੇਖਾ, ਵਿਉਂਤਬੰਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਅਮਲ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਚ ਪੇਸ਼ੇਵਰ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਰਦਰਸ਼ੀ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਲਾਗੂ ਕਰਨਾ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਜਾਵੇ।

ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ਬੱਸ ਸਟੈਂਡ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਟੀ ਬੱਸ ਸਟੈਂਡ ਵਜੋਂ ਵਰਤਣ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਵਨਾ ਤਲਾਸ਼ਣ ਲਈ ਵੀ ਆਖਿਆ। ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਨਤਕ ਆਵਾਜਾਈ ਦੇ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਸਾਧਨ ਮੁਹੱਈਆ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਹਾਈ ਸਿੱਧ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਭਗਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਖੁਸ਼ਹਾਲੀ ਨੂੰ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਚਨਬੱਧ ਹੈ।
