Commission working with government for welfare of sanitation workers: Grewal

Chandan Grewal, Chairman of the Punjab State Safai Karamcharis Commission, congratulated the sanitation workers on the increase in their salaries from Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 and said that the efforts being made by the Punjab government for the welfare of sanitation workers are commendable.

He said that the state is fully committed to protecting the rights of sanitation workers and their welfare. He was addressing a meeting with the officials of the Municipal Corporation, officials of various departments and sanitation workers of the Municipal Corporation today.

He said that the main objective of the meeting is to listen to the problems of the sanitation workers, protect their rights and discuss the policies of the government. He assured that the problems of the sanitation workers will be brought to the notice of the government with full dedication and continuous efforts will be made to take appropriate decisions for their welfare.

Mr. Grewal said that it is being ensured that the problems of the sanitation workers are resolved on priority basis. The main objective of the commission is to ensure the welfare of the sanitation workers working in various departments of the state.

During the meeting, the sanitation workers appreciated the efforts being made by the Punjab government and placed their various demands before the chairman.

Chairman Chandan Grewal listened carefully to all the demands of the employees and assured that the Commission is continuously working to convey these demands to the government and get them resolved as soon as possible.

He appealed to the sanitation workers and officials to work in coordination and said that with joint efforts, the city’s sanitation system can be made better, more efficient and effective. This will also help in providing a healthy and clean environment to the city residents.

On this occasion, Mayor, Municipal Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Pooja Sial, Joint Commissioner Simarpreet Kaur, besides Municipal Corporation officials and sanitation workers were present.
