Patiala News:15 challans, Rs 2500 fine under tobacco control campaign in Patiala

A special checking campaign was conducted by the Civil Surgeon’s Office, Patiala under the National Tobacco Control Program. This campaign was conducted under the leadership of Civil Surgeon Patiala Dr. Shelly Jaitley and District Program Officer Dr. Inderpreet Randhawa.

During this, the team conducted a special inspection in Puri Market, Lehal Chowk, Sirhind Bypass, Rajpura Road and Parshuram Chowk.

Dr. Inderpreet Randhawa said that during the investigation, 15 challans were issued against those who violated Section 4 of the COTPA Act, from whom a fine of Rs. 2,500 was collected. The department clarified that strict action will continue in the coming time against those who violate the rules regarding the sale and use of tobacco products.

Health officials appealed to the people to stay away from drugs like tobacco. They said that these programs being run by the government are very important for improving the health of the people and increasing awareness.

Dr. Inderpreet Randhawa said that such checks will continue in the coming days as well so that a tobacco-free society can be ensured.

During this campaign, DHO Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, ZLA Navjot Kaur, MPHS Anil Guru, MPHS Paramjit Singh and Lakhbir Singh, besides Food Safety Officer and Drug Safety Officer were also present from the Civil Surgeon’s Office.
