Patiala News:Auto rickshaw flagged off to create awareness for prevention of dengue

Under the orders of Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh and as per the guidelines of Civil Surgeon Dr. Shelly Jaitley, the Health Department Patiala is running a “War on Dengue” campaign across the district. Auto rickshaws were dispatched today to spread awareness under this campaign.
With the aim of making people aware of the rainy season, dengue survey teams under the leadership of District Epidemiologist Dr. Gurpreet Kaur today visited nurseries, government schools and homes under the district to identify dengue larvae and sprayed medicine to prevent mosquitoes. Along with this, these teams also made people aware about the precautions to be taken for dengue prevention.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Shelly Jaitley appealed to the people to be careful of dengue during the rainy season and not to allow water to stagnate anywhere around the houses. To prevent dengue, every individual should consider it their responsibility and take care of the cleanliness of the surroundings. He said that refrigerator trays, flower pots, broken pots, coolers, water tanks etc. should be checked so that dengue larvae cannot breed in these places. Mosquito nets and mosquito repellent creams should be used while sleeping, full-sleeved clothes should be worn, coolers etc. should be cleaned and water should not be allowed to accumulate in broken pots, tires, refrigerator trays and flower pots etc. The water in the pots kept for birds to drink water should also be changed regularly.
District Epidemiologist Dr. Gurpreet Kaur said that the Health Department Patiala identified dengue larvae at 20674 places in the district, during which dengue larvae were found at 116 places. Which were destroyed by the teams according to the prescribed method. So far, a total of 761152 places have been identified and larvae were found at 5038 places. So far, a total of 22 cases have been reported in the district. Apart from this, fogging was also done by the anti-larvae team at suspected places in view of dengue prevention.
