Patiala News:Dr. Balbir Singh inaugurates a park costing Rs. 28 lakh in Vikas Nagar
1600-metre-long track and 5000 fruit-bearing and ornamental plants installed in the 5-acre park
Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh today inaugurated the Environment Park developed by the Forest and Wildlife Department at a cost of approximately Rs. 28 lakh at Vikas Nagar, Patiala. He said that this park, developed over an area of around 5 acres, will provide the residents of the area with a clean and green environment, besides proving beneficial for walking and a healthy lifestyle.
The Health Minister said that a 1600-metre-long walking track has been prepared in the park for the convenience of the people. Fencing has been done around the park for protection from wild animals. In addition, 25 benches, 30 solar lights and 15 dustbins have been installed. An 800-metre-long water pipeline has also been laid for irrigation of the plants.
He said that around 5000 fruit-bearing and ornamental plants of different varieties have been planted in the park to make the environment greener. This park will play an important role in increasing greenery in the area, as well as in environmental conservation and connecting people with nature.
On this occasion, DFO Mr. Satinder Singh said that to make this project a reality, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh took special interest and made vigorous efforts to get the estimate approved from the Forest Department. He said that due to the initiative of the Health Minister, the residents of Vikas Nagar have got this beautiful and environment-friendly park.
Dr. Balbir Singh said that environmental conservation and providing a clean environment to the people for a better and healthy life are among the major priorities of the government. He said that such parks not only enhance the beauty of the city, but also provide a better environment for people to walk, exercise and come closer to nature.
He said that this Environment Park built in Vikas Nagar will prove to be a beautiful combination of healthy living and environmental conservation for the people of the area.
On this occasion, Chairman of the Improvement Trust Mr. Harpal Virk, Mr. Jasbir Gandhi, Range Officer of the Forest Department Mr. Gurinder Singh, Block Officer Mr. Ramandeep Singh, besides all the employees and officers of the Forest Department and a large number of local residents were present.
