Patiala News: A ‘Disaster Response Training Program’ was conducted at Mata Kushallya Hospital, Patiala with the aim of further strengthening the hospital’s disaster management capacity and emergency preparedness.

Patiala News: A ‘Disaster Response Training Program’ was conducted at Mata Kushallya Hospital, Patiala with the aim of further strengthening the hospital’s disaster management capacity and emergency preparedness.

Ward attendants, security personnel, nursing staff, lab technicians, doctors and nursing students participated in this training program. During the training, practical information was given on the immediate action to be taken by the hospital in the event of a disaster like flood, earthquake, fire or major emergency, safe evacuation of patients, emergency response, crowd and mass casualty management, first aid and the role of various departments.

The training was conducted by a team from the NDRF office in Chandigarh, led by Inspector Ashit. The NDRF team provided the hospital staff with the necessary training and important guidelines to take immediate, safe and effective action in the event of a disaster. Training was given on how to make temporary arrangements for floating in water with stretchers and household items.

The program was presided over by Medical Superintendent Dr. Vikas Goyal. On this occasion, SMO Dr. Jaideep and Dr. Shubhdeep, Nodal Officers Dr. Sumit Singh, Dr. Manpreet and Dr. Javia and others were specially present.

Medical Superintendent Dr. Vikas Goyal said that for any hospital to deal with a disaster or major emergency, not only medical facilities but also the preparation of the entire team, clear responsibilities and effective coordination are very important. He said that such training gives greater clarity to all sections of the hospital staff about their roles and helps in reducing the loss of lives during emergencies.

The hospital administration thanked the NDRF team for this important training program and expressed its commitment to conduct such regular trainings and mock drills in the future as well.
