Patiala News:Health Minister Flags Off ‘Marathon Run for Equality, Unity and Brotherhood’ Dedicated to the 650th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji

As part of the series of events being organised by the Punjab Government to commemorate the 650th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji, the Department of Sports organised a ‘Marathon Run for Equality, Unity and Brotherhood’ in Patiala today. Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh flagged off the marathon.
On the occasion, Dr. Balbir Singh said that the Bani and teachings of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji would continue to inspire every section of society, including the youth, for generations to come. He said that Sri Guru Ravidas Ji gave humanity the message of equality, mutual brotherhood and unity, which holds even greater relevance in the present times.
The Health Minister said that the teachings of Guru Sahib were also helping inspire youngsters and children to remain determined in staying away from social evils such as cyberbullying and drug abuse. He said it was a matter of happiness that, according to the latest figures, children were becoming increasingly aware of the menace of drugs and were taking a pledge to stay away from drugs.
Dr. Balbir Singh said that the Punjab Government was organising various programmes with devotion and enthusiasm to commemorate the 650th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji, so that Guru Ji’s great Bani, philosophy and message of bringing humanity together could reach every household.
On the occasion, the Health Minister also launched the ‘Khedan Vatan Punjab Dian’ portal. Prizes were distributed among the winners of the marathon. Parminder Pehlwan also administered an anti-drug pledge to the youth and children present.
District Sports Officer Navjot Singh Dhaliwal said that the marathon started from Polo Ground and passed through YPS Chowk, NIS Chowk and Fawara Chowk before concluding back at Polo Ground. The participants covered a distance of approximately five kilometres, with youngsters and children participating in the marathon with great enthusiasm.
Mayor of Patiala Municipal Corporation Kundan Gogia, SDM Gurdev Singh, Jatwinder Grewal, along with a large number of coaches, players, students and youngsters, were present on the occasion.
