Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University is conducting trials for sports like Judo, Fencing, Boxing, Hockey, Badminton, Basketball, Kabaddi, Netball, Archery, Athletics, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Weightlifting, Wrestling, Handball, Swimming, Kho-Kho, Football, Gymnastics, Cycling, Lawn Tennis etc. under the Sports Wing at Prof. Gursewak Singh Government College of Physical Education, Patiala on 03 September 2026. In this regard, Vice Chancellor Dr. Pushpinder Singh Gill informed that Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University, Patiala is one of the eight universities in India whose main objective is to promote sports and create such a platform for players so that they can remain mentally and physically fit and create a healthy society. He said that this institution established in 2019 has been able to overcome the obstacles of progress day by day, our only slogan is “Khelega Punjab – Khirega Punjab”. We are committed to creating golden opportunities for the players and making them capable of facing every challenge. We are constantly making these efforts due to which our university can join the forefront of various institutions of the world. We have received the approval of the sports wing from the Punjab government. Our main responsibility is to provide good coaches, good playing fields, good food arrangements, good techniques to the players. He said that we have a total number of seats in the sports wing of 350. These include 150 residential and 200 day-scholar player seats. There is a provision of Rs. 225 for residential and Rs. 125 for day-scholar player diet per player. Dr. Gill said that this is such a golden opportunity for all the players of Punjab, in which Awaiting them are playgrounds that are among the world’s top-notch.
