*Check bounce, money recovery, electricity and water bills, marital and other disputes will be resolved*
As per the guidelines of National Legal Services Authority, New Delhi and Punjab State Legal Services Authority, Mohali and under the able guidance of Shri Avtar Singh District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairperson, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala, National Lok Adalat is being organized for cases related to cheque bounce cases, money recovery cases, labour and employment disputes cases, electricity, water bills and other bills payment cases, maintenance cases, criminal compoundable cases, other civil disputes and cases pending in tribunals, cheque bounce cases, money recovery cases, MACT cases, labour and employment disputes cases, electricity, water bills and other bills payment cases, matrimonial disputes (except divorce), land acquisition cases (pending before civil courts/tribunals), salary and allowances and retirement benefits, revenue cases etc. It will be held in Patiala district on 12.9.2026.
For this purpose, benches of judicial courts will be constituted at Patiala, Rajpura, Samana and Nabha. Shri Ashok Kumar Chohan, Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala said that the primary objective of Lok Adalats is to resolve disputes through agreements. The aim is to save time and money for the parties involved and reduce personal animosity between them. It is important to note that except for non-compoundable criminal cases, all types of cases, even at the pre-litigation stage, can be presented in Lok Adalats for amicable settlement.
Shri Chohan further informed that when a case is disposed of in Lok Adalat, the award becomes final and there is no appeal against it. In addition, any court fees paid by the parties are refunded and the disputing parties get speedy resolution of their dispute on mutually agreed terms and a win-win situation for both the parties is created.
