Patiala News:Election Commission appoints Divisional Commissioner Vinay Bublani as Roll Observer for SIR in Patiala

-Roll Observer holds first meeting with DC, EROs and representatives of political parties

-No eligible citizen in Patiala district should remain outside the electoral roll: Vinay Bublani

The Election Commission of India has appointed Divisional Commissioner Vinay Bublani as the Roll Observer for Patiala in connection with the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026. He held his first meeting today with Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Dr Himanshu Aggarwal, all Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), representatives of political parties, and other stakeholders to review the notice stage and the disposal of claims and objections under SIR-2026.

Vinay Bublani stressed that no eligible citizen of Patiala district should remain outside the electoral roll. Citizens whose names are not included in the draft electoral roll or those seeking fresh registration may contact their respective BLOs with the prescribed forms and required documents by September 12, 2026.

A special camp will be organised at all 1,861 polling stations in Patiala district on September 6. Political parties have been requested to inform their respective Booth Level Agents (BLAs), while BLOs will remain available at their respective polling stations.

For information or assistance regarding voter cards, voter services and the SIR process, citizens may contact the district and constituency-level helpdesks or call the Voter Helpline at 1950.

The Roll Observer said that the objective of the Special Intensive Revision is to prepare accurate, error-free and reliable electoral rolls, ensuring that no eligible person is left out and no ineligible person remains included.

From August 13 to August 31, 2026, a total of 13,973 applications were received in Form 6, 36 in Form 6A, 184 in Form 7 and 4,242 in Form 8. Eligible citizens may submit claims and applications from August 13 to September 12, 2026. All claims and objections will be disposed of by October 8, and the final electoral roll will be published on October 12, 2026.

The Roll Observer also directed EROs to ensure proper training of BLOs and supervisory officers and closely monitor additions and deletions in electoral rolls. Polling stations and constituencies showing unusually high rates of additions or deletions will be subject to special verification.

Dr Himanshu Aggarwal welcomed Vinay Bublani and shared a detailed update on the progress of SIR-2026 in the district. He said that the district administration is making every effort to complete the revision process smoothly and within the prescribed timeline in accordance with the Election Commission’s instructions.

All EROs and representatives of various political parties were present at the meeting.
