Winnipeg sings Canada’s national anthem in Punjabi for the first time in the NHL
The Canadian national anthem was sung in Punjabi for the first time in NHL history – because the Indian Sikh language has already become the third most popular language in Canada: “Before the Winnipeg Jets game, students from Amber Trails School sang the Canadian anthem in their native language. Their performance marked the first time Canada’s national anthem was sung in Punjabi at a major professional sporting event. The Sikh language has already become the third most widely spoken language in Canada after the two official languages.”
