Patiala to Become Model District in Statewide Anti-Drug Campaign
– Patiala MLAs Intensify Ground-Level Action to Eradicate Drug Abuse
Patiala, May 18:
In a powerful show of collective resolve, all MLAs from Patiala district are spearheading grassroots initiatives as part of the Punjab Government’s intensified anti-drug campaign, “Yudh Nashian Virudh’’. Aligned with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann vision of a drug-free Punjab, legislators are visiting three villages daily within their respective constituencies to engage directly with citizens and bolster the ongoing Nasha Mukti Yatra.
Patiala MLA Ajit Pal Singh Kohli today met residents of Tej Bagh Colony (Ward 34), Jagdish Enclave (Ward 32), and Vikas Colony (Ward 30). He called upon communities to stand united against the menace of drugs and stressed the critical role of newly formed Ward Defence Committees. These committees are tasked with reporting drug-related activities, aiding law enforcement, and guiding affected individuals toward de-addiction and rehabilitation centers.
Samana MLA Chetan Singh Jauramajra visited the villages of Fatehgarh Chhana, Gajewas, and Talwandi Malik, motivating locals to remain alert and proactive in safeguarding their neighborhoods.
Ghanaur MLA Gurlal Ghanaur conducted outreach in Lachhru, Kami Khurd, and Jand Mangoli, emphasizing the need for community participation and immediate reporting of drug-related incidents to authorities.
Rajpura MLA Neena Mittal interacted with residents in Mirzapur, Kotla, and Dubali, reinforcing the Punjab Government’s zero-tolerance approach towards drug trafficking and encouraging the youth to pursue healthy, purposeful lives.
Nabha MLA Gurdev Singh Dev Mann led the Nasha Mukti Yatra through Sahiewal, Tohra, and Tarkheri Kalan, reiterating the government’s commitment to eliminating drug abuse at the grassroots level.
Across all interactions, MLAs echoed Chief Minister Mann’s stern message to drug traffickers: “Either stop your illegal trade or leave Punjab.” The public was urged to take collective responsibility for this movement, and pledges were administered in villages and urban neighborhoods alike to reinforce commitment to a drug-free society.
These synchronized efforts across Patiala are not only intensifying the reach of the campaign but also positioning the district as a model for community-driven de-addiction initiatives in the state. The momentum will continue to build, with increasing involvement from youth, civil society, and local institutions in the days to come.
