DBU & Elite Power Sports sign MoU to encourage sports and sportspersons

In a significant initiative to promote a comprehensive professional sports platform in university sports, Desh Bhagat University (DBU) has partnered with American Elite Power Sports Pvt. Ltd. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was formally inked during a ceremony attended by distinguished personalities from both institutions.

The signing event witnessed the presence of Dr. Harsh Sadawarti Vice President of Desh Bhagat University, Mohit Singh Chief Operating Officer of Elite Power Sports, and Dr. Pravin Kumar Director of Sports at DBU. Expressing his optimism about this collaboration, Dr. Sadawarti emphasized that the partnership would provide a unique platform for university athletes to showcase their talents at the national level, thereby enhancing Desh Bhagat University’s standing in the sports arena.

Elite Power Sports Pvt. Ltd. aims to revolutionize university sports in India by spearheading inter-university sports leagues. Their mission is twofold: to offer a platform for young athletes to demonstrate their skills and to cultivate a strong identity for university students and alumni.

The Chief Executive Officer of Elite Power Sports, Dr. Virji Kaul, said, “We view this collaboration with Desh Bhagat University as a significant stride towards introducing professionalism and commercialization into university sports. Our shared vision is to acknowledge and celebrate the dedication and hard work of university athletes, providing them with a platform to shine and emerge as exceptional sporting icons. We are committed to nurturing an environment where they can carve out their unique identities, with the ultimate goal of fostering heroes and catalyzing a sports revolution in India.”

This collaboration marks a significant milestone in the realm of university sports, signifying a joint commitment to nurturing talent, promoting sportsmanship, and raising the standard of sports in the country. As we embark on this transformative journey, we eagerly anticipate unlocking new opportunities for aspiring athletes and contributing to the holistic development of sports in India.

Dr. Pravin Kumar Director of Sports, revealed that there would be four leagues: basketball, volleyball, e-sports, and kabaddi. Each team will have the opportunity to play 5-6 matches in a league. The advantage of this setup is that athletes will be provided a platform, and all their expenses will be borne by Elite Power Sports.

Mohit Singh highlighted that their matches would be broadcast live on various channels. Additionally, athletes will be able to assess their strengths and weaknesses by watching match previews and recordings. Just as NCAA serves as a platform to recruit top talent, many of whom later represent India in the Olympics, EPS aims to provide such a platform for athletes. Data of athletes will be maintained, along with facts and figures.

Mohit Singh mentioned that private universities that excel in both education and sports are eligible for such partnerships. The aim of the agreement is to promote youth. There are currently four zones nationwide, which are being expanded to eight, involving 72 universities, with each team playing 3 to 4 matches in the league.
